donor project

The Donor Project followed Costa’s initial bloodworks project which relied on the exclusive use of his own blood.

With the Donor Project (a project that is currently still a work-in-progress) Costa accepts the blood of a participant, once the participant fully understands and agrees that the blood he/she is donating will be owned by the artist to use as the artist wishes to either make a work that will become part of the Donor Project or be kept for future projects or discarded.

A legally binding contract is signed between the participant and the artist to covey possession and all the rights of use of the blood to the artist.

Each time the Donor Project reaches a satisfactory number of participants, a full color publication will be printed that includes biographical data of each participant, a before and after polaroid portrait taken of the participant at the time of the donation, a copy of the fully executed contract of participation and an image of the work made from the donated blood.
